review 1: Buried Secrets was the 6th Joseph Finder novel I have read. (I set a record for myself reading it in 3 evenings. It was totally spellbinding. It is told mostly in the 1st person (Nick Heller, PI). There is always a lot more in a Finder novel than what appears to be. The characters are well-developed, the story riveting. Here we have a teenager buried alive in a coffin 10 feet below ground. The goal of finding her and the reason she is where she is before it is too late involves private investigators, the CIA, Russians, the FBI, a US Senator and a variety of others. It really is difficult to put this book down. I finished this last evening and have started my 7th Joseph Finder novel.
review 2: The novel was well written with good snappy dialog but the c
... moreharacters shallow and it was really just another espionage thriller about an ex-military misfit with the usual modern day bumbling officials, yes, the FBI this time. A couple of malevolent Russians were thrown in for added spice, malevolent Muslims having worn out their welcome. It was just like the evening news but without commercials. less
