Diva Cup Review!

Hello Hello!

This past week I tried a new product I received for Christmas this past year. I had wanted one for a while so I decided since Christmas was coming up I would ask for one. Let me just say how much I loved, and enjoyed this product.

The Diva Cup

The Diva Cup is a silicone cup that comes in 2 models.

Model 1: Is recommended for women under the age of 30 who have never delivered vaginally or by Caesarean section.

Model 2: Is for women age 30 and older or who have given birth vaginally or by Caesarean section.

So naturally I have model 2 as I have given birth. I found that using the Diva cup for the very first time was a little frustrating, you have to insert it horizontally (toward your tailbone) so it won’t leak. I did have a few leaks the first day, one that I immediately noticed because I felt it happen (you know what I’m talking about ladies.)

Since we are on the topic of insertion, there are two pictures you have of your two ways to insert the cup. You have figure one where you just fold the cup in half, and figure two where you fold it inward slightly and leave a small lip at the top.

Figure 2 was the easiest method for me. I found that when you have it folded like in the picture you can insert it up to where the fold begins and push where your fingers were holding it and it will pop. You will feel it pop open, once I felt the pop I knew it was open and in place. Once you have inserted it and felt the pop (if you choose to insert it using figure 2) you can run your finger around the inside to make sure all the sides are open.

What I loved the most about the Diva Cup was that you can leave it in way longer then a tampon. You can leave the Diva cup in for 12 hours which as a mom is fantastic. Another thing that I loved is it’s easy to clean and you can boil it for 5 minutes. I stuck my cup in a whisk while it was boiling, I was nervous that it was going to get warped if it touched the sides of my pot.

When it comes to removal of the cup I had a easier time removing it once I found the stem. I recommend removing the cup while seated on the toilet so if you drop the cup or if the cup overflows as your pulling it out ( it’s not as gross as you think) it will all fall in the toilet instead of on your clothes or all over your floor. Once you find the stem I recommend gently moving the stem side to side as you pull it downward. Once you have moved the cup down, grab the bottom of the cup and pinch it so you can break the suction and easily remove it. I found the removal to be slightly uncomfortable just because the bottom portion of the cup is slimmer then the opening. Once removed dump the contents into the toilet rinse with warm water and mild soap and reinsert the same way you did before. One of the great things about the Diva cup is that if you insert it wrong you don’t have to worry about it being as uncomfortable as having to remove a dried tampon (we have all had to do it at some point.)

It’s as easy as that, you have now used your Diva cup your entire cycle. You won’t need to buy tampons or pads. It’s one product that’s about 30+ dollars. No it isn’t cheap but you only have to purchase one, or if you want a backup get another. This one product could save you money that you can use to splurge on yourself, friends, or family.

I do have one more comment before I list my pros and cons. If you have a IUD or any type of inserted birth control it recommends that you don’t use a Diva cup. However I am sure there are a lot of you who use the Diva cup and use that form of birth control, which is amazing cause this product is fantastic! Seriously! If your interested in the Diva cup and have any type of birth control or concerns talk to your gynecologist. They are there to help you, it doesn’t hurt to ask questions!

Here are the pros and cons that I have of the Diva cup

Pros:

  • Saves you money each month
  • Reusable
  • No risk of TSS (toxic shock syndrome)
  • Up to 12 hours of use
  • Easy to use

Cons:

  • Slightly uncomfortable to remove
  • May leak if not inserted right
  • Hard to use in public

I rate the Diva cup a 9/10 just because it is slightly uncomfortable to remove but I think that is to be expected. Otherwise I think that it is worth trying!

With love,

Loc

P.s I will have a YouTube review if the Diva cup up tomorrow! ❤️
