review 1: A good solid read with the hint of romance. If you are looking for hot steamy sex scenes with lots of angsty this isn't the book for you. If you want a steady story line that pulls you in with interesting somewhat likable characters who address life head on, then start reading. The cover says 'a love story of epic proportions' you truly have to read between the lines to puzzle out that description.
review 2: Absolutely adorable book about imperfect people who find each other, overcome their imperfections and embrace happiness. The characters include a behemoth East German ex-prisoner with CIA connections whose daughter lives with her mother in a brothel UNTIL she moves in with her dad in a flat somewhere in Chicago. Did I mention the building they move into ... moreis owned by a grossly overweight thirty something deli maid who aspires to own the Screaming’ Mimi restaurant where she works? While not your average love story, it’s a great relaxing summer read for that deck chair overlooking the lakes, mountains or smog infested cities. less
