review 1: I really enjoyed the first book of the series & was so excited to read this, the 2nd book of the series. Unfortunately, the author needs a good editor. There was SO MUCH going on. And yes, I can suspend belief for a while, but when it becomes absolutely ridiculous time & time again, I find it disheartening. Too much fantasy, too many characters, too many plots & subplots. Just too much, and not in a good way.
review 2: I got a real kick out of this book. It is written as a straight mystery/thriller, but it's basic premise takes all that to the next level. The protagonist is the husband of the President of the US who is a Private Detective. He met his wife while investigating the murder of her first husband. His partner is a beautiful ex-nun who used to be h... moreis partner when he was a cop. There are two cases being followed. His is the investigation of a former Chicago cop who was found unconscious with a dead soccer star in Paris. Sweetie (his partner) is investigating the shooting of a Secret Service Agent in DC. Both cases are satisfactorily solved, but with a number of witty and humorous distractions along the way. This was fun summer reading. less
