review 1: This predictable romance novel involves a woman with a young son. Her husband has been comatose for six years after being shot in the spine in Afghanistan. She travels to Washington, D.C. to accept an award for her husband. She is accompanied by an escort provided by the government. The two fall in love (rather quickly). I thought that the dialogue could have been broken up. A couple of times the dialogue turned into soliloquies that obviously showcased the author's personal view of war and the treatment of our veterans. Although I agree with his views, I thought it was a little too much for the novel.

I kept waiting for something, anything to happen. Meandering, repetitive, cloyingly sweet.

I enjoyed every page, hated for it to be over. A painful love story, beautifully written.

This was a slow boring read for me. I was glad when it was over.
