review 1: In this sweet little short story, Griffin Skerry is a wedding planner in small town South Dakota who never made it to New York City in order to pursue his dreams. Instead, he built a business in his hometown, fell in love with a deeply-closeted man, held onto an on-again, off-again relationship with him, and when the story opens, is planning that man's wedding -- to the socialite daughter of the wealthiest family in town. By the time we finish dealing with bridezilla, her miserable sister, and an unexpected murder, Griffin is on the verge of reconnecting with his former childhood friend/high school tormentor, who is now the sheriff of the town, and based on a hint, is probably his first (unrequited) love. We don't get a happy ever after in the story, but by the time Griffi... moren and the sheriff finally make the expected overture toward each other, things are headed in that direction. This was a nice, easy read, and as wonderfully enjoyable as one might expect from Josh Lanyon. 3.5 stars
review 2: I liked this one a lot. It was sweet and interesting, it went in a direction I didn't expect but in a way that was consistent with the plot. It was a little bit of a tease and I kinda wish it was a prequel to a full-length book, but that's the nature of this series. Rope you in and then leave you wanting more! A nice introduction to a new author as well, I'll have to check out Lanyon's other stuff. less

This is a shorter length than I usually prefer to read, but I enjoyed it.
