review 1: Could not put it down. This is not a happy book, and it could definitely be triggering for some readers. Jackson does an amazing job of character development, and there is absolutely no doubt that our protagonist is both brave and strong, as well as full of heart, despite her situation as a "victim of domestic violence." Minor characters are also well-developed, and the plot engages, leads and surprises, but never bores. One of the best books I've read in a long time.

... moret I always care about them. This wasn't my favorite book by Ms Jackson, but it was definitely a good read. It tied in nicely with an older publication, and i thought that was neat. I give it four stars because I liked it- but she has written better. less
