review 1: I listened to this series on Audiobook and listened to them back to back so I thought I would do a series review. Each of the novels had both strengths and weaknesses but overall I totally enjoyed the series and I would give the entire series a 4 star rating. The books individually did not always rate as high as that. I do have to say I love a 3 book series that has a beginning and an ending. I also liked that although each book was about a different character's story each on the previous characters had small roles to play in each story. Break Me SlowlyThis is the story of Katelyn and Adam. I totally connected with these characters. I was worried at first that Katelyn was going to be mousey but she had issues and worked through them. Adam came on a bit strong but in... more the end they totally suited each other. This all being said..yes it was a solid story and was easy to read but there were definite issues for me with the book. The scene between Adam and Katelyn after they met his father at the restaurant was just wrong. It almost made me turn off the book and toss it. I also felt that the story build up took 95% of the book and then the ending was totally rushed and almost anticlimactic. There were parts of the story that confused me the whole Grace, Tim, Brian and Megan thing..I found out later this was a set up for book 2..but at the end of this novel I just sorta went HUH..what the heck was that all about. So for me..this was a 3 star read...I did like it enough to go right to book 2...oh and this was an up all night listen for me...I was captivated with the characters. Possess Me SlowlyWe met Megan in book 1 as Katelyn's supportive best friend. After book 1 ended Megan had a lot happen and she moved to NYC. Megan and Preston's story was a better read and a more unique relationship. The timing again was so fast..and that took me out of the story for a bit..cause I was kinda blinking...from 1 night together he decided to offer her a bargain? Anyway I did shake that off and got engrossed in the story. I liked that Preston although he had hard edges was a softer and more likable character overall than Adam..he offered a more fully dimensional character..I also liked that Megan had more force of character but allowed her guilt to manage her life. Over all really enjoyable and I liked that the Katelyn/Adam storyline was wrapped up a bit better for me in this novel. This was a 4 star listen for me...and I"m Captivated by the characters so after once again being up all night to listen..I went straight into book 3Capture Me slowlyGoing into this story I liked the Emma that we met in books 1 and 2 she was a bit mysterious but seemed to be polished and nice. This was not the Emma we read about in this book. The Emma in this book was uptight, screetchy, and over all not very likable. Yes, she came from a very nasty past..very nasty but Adam rescued her from that...she had therapy..but this did not come across in the story. Rhys saved the story for me...I really liked him and felt that Emma was a nasty b-otch to him. He seemed to go out of his way to accommodating to her...and the trouble she got into, he also seemed to be a more rounded characters with his background and what made him tick. I admit the twist at the end was interesting and if I was Emma..THIS is the time I would have b-otched him out and gave attitude..more than she actually did. I liked the suspense this story offered and the epilogue that tied up all the loose ends for all the couples...Over all this was a 3star read..I would have rated it higher if I didn't feel that all Emma did was yell at Rhys. This created an absolutely no chemistry couple for me...yes there was steam..but it was missing that vital connection that makes a couple work for me. Overall a 4 star series...I enjoyed it and would recommend it. I will try more novels by this author. t'irlat'irla's talk Book Blog tirlastalk.blogspot.ca
review 2: Again another fabulous book by Joya Ryan. I have loved this series and think that Joya is an amazing writer!!! Love the storyline and the characters are fabuolous. Love that the book is complete at the end with no cliffhangers, but with the characters being apart of the next books as secondary roles. Rhys...what a hotty and Emma is such a strong woman....absolutely perfect for each other!!! Look forward to more books by Joya!! less
