review 1: In some ways I felt that this book is much like the first in the Purrfect Mates series -Here Kitty, Kitty, which was that it was a little too fast paced for my own taste. However unlike the first book the second felt more thought out and the characters felt more believable.Overall found the concepts fascinating. This is not the first book i have read of Joyee Flynn and I feel that she has a wonderful and wicked imagination as well as an extraordinary talent of creating extraordinary plots and loveable characters.Author Trey Donovan smells one of his mates at a party to celebrate his brother's return home from 30 years of toucher at the hands of hunters, Addison Cambell is a werewolf from the local pack. After mating with Addison, Trey moves in with him but quickly realises... more that Addison is still hung up on his ex-boyfriend. With a broken hart Trey leaves and moves into a new home and decides to try and start a new life with out the one that is soon to be known as Him. While at a furniture store shopping for a new bed Trey meets his other mate. Jasper Knight is a werewolf who has saved enough money to travel from one pack to another in the hopes of finding his mate, when he find him he is not willing to let him go without a fight.
review 2: My Little Kitty is the intrigueing story of Troy, the eldest brother in a saber toothed tiger shifting family. As a shifter with a high sex drive, Troy requires two mates, although finding them is the easy part. What follows next will test everything Trey ever thought he knew about mate bonds and his own happily ever after.Trey is minding his own business, enjoying the return of his long lost baby brother, when fate steps in and hands him mate number one in the form of Addison. At this point, Trey appears to be a happy-go-lucky, easy to please young man more than eager for his mate. As the story develops, we discover that Trey has hidden depths, keeping long seated issues and emotions within, especially those dealing with the disappearance of his brother over thirty years ago. Giving Trey a true to life job as the writer of gay romance, and writing a small amount about the fallout that can surround such a calling, definitely makes things interesting.Addison is a wolf shifter and member of the local police force. He first shows himself as ecstatic to have found his mate, although jealousy does shine through when the thought of sharing is broached. Appearances can be deceiving. When it comes to light that Addison is holding a candle for a previous lover, he shows himself to be harsh, selfish and worst of all, dispassionate and heartless towards Trey and Trey's true needs. It isn't until later in the story that this impression shifts and you gain an empathy and understanding for his actions. As Trey deals with the heartache Addison has left behind, fate once again steps forward and after quite a sweet meet cue, we are introduced to Jasper, mate number two. I love how Joyee has really made me think about maturity levels verses age in this story. When Jasper is first introduced, I get a feel for him as older than his true age of twenty-four. Jasper shows a high level of maturity, along with being a level thinker able to take in a situation at a glance. A horse trainer, Jasper has deep patience, understanding and empathy, all of which help aid him in his dealings when first meeting his mate, Trey.Although this book can be read on its own, much more enjoyment will be had if read as part of the Purrfect Mates series. Be warned, My Little Kitty is not your typical 'mate meets mate' happily ever after story. There are a lot of misunderstandings, angst and one near-miss attack. A really good read, I'd recommend it for anyone who enjoys Joyee Flynn, other stories in the Purrfect Mates series, menages with three hot men, paranormal or unusual shape-shifter stories written in a contemporary style.
