review 1: i can't recommend any of these; unless you are bored to death and looking for a way to pass some time, until an author that you like writes something. the characters are what has made me read three of these books, that and of course the waiting i spoke of in the beginning. the subplots seem more and more ridiculous each book, of this series. If it weren't for liking the characters, i wouldn't have read the three that i have. i believe i mentioned that this was like a soap opera (in the last review), not a good one, either. The protagonist is very annoying in this book, not caring who she endangers, trying to solve her case, even though she has been suspended; which proved to make me mad at her, she reminded me of one of those girls in a movie that has to go outside, when y... moreou know the killer is out there... GRRRRRRR. Anyway, i was going to try to read all seven of this series, since i'm waiting for another author to finish, however, at the end of this book things change and i don't know if i can do another one....
review 2: Wow. The beginning was depraved--the murder pretty horrific, and the touches with the child poignant and well-done. The middle was great (plausible, logical, horrific) and the end expected but still shocking. JT Ellison does not pull punches, and that's fantastic. I'm going to have to find book #2 (missed it, skipped by accident) to catch up on what I missed, and then get to book #4 as soon as possible. less

I feel like this book dragged on. I feel like there was too much chance to the story.
