review 1: Another good book in the Taylor Jackson series. Although for someone who says that real serial killers are rare, Taylor sure hunts a lot of them down. This time around, an interesting wrench is throw into Taylor and Baldwin's relationship in the form of Detective Inspector James "Memphis" Highsmythe. I wondered if maybe he and the Pretender would get into a scuffle at the end of the book, but alas... Maybe in the next book in the series.
review 2: Ellison has written better. I agree with the reviewers who think this book started out really good then fizzled. The premise of the story was different and disturbing and I was expecting a suspenseful mystery. Instead we get a lame love triangle which seems out of place with the story - although this may play out i... moren later books (not sure I'm looking forward to that). We also get the case being very neatly wrapped up in record time. It just seemed too easy, as if the author was rushing to finish it. less
