review 1: I liked this book, it was a cute mystery. Is it a little cheesy? Sure of course, our main character can talk to dogs. I'm sure my fellow pet owners will agree, that we always wish we could communicate with our pets in this way so I thought it was fun to follow a character who could talk to dogs. I liked the main character and I think its cute that some of our other character are dogs. I thought this was going to be a nice series to follow, but I didn't enjoy the second the book so I don't think I will be reading any more books in this series.
review 2: I was not sure if I would like this book but there was something appealing about seeing what I do for a (new) living through the lens of a protagonist walking the streets of my old hometown of NYC. Also the ... moreAuthor, Judy McCoy donates the proceeds to Animal Sanctuaries so that appealed greatly to me. By the time I finished this book I was totally in love with Rudy the Maltipoo. The usual cast of characters are well drawn, only criticism I have is that I figured out the villian mid way through the book, and was like, ugh, c'mon stop being so obtuse. Nonetheless, the recurring characters won me over despite this and I have now read the next two books(Heir of the Dog, Death In Show) in the series and have ordered #4 & # 5 and have shared them with friends who are also bonded with Rudy and Ellie, and even Sam the love interest cop. less
