review 1: I would give this book 4.5 stars! I love how this book is able to make me sad and happy just by reading it.I was really down that Sophie was treated badly by her stepmother and her father. Her friends were the housekeeper and maids but she was still so positive. It may seems like it's a Cinderella story but it's NOT! It's so must better, with full of suspense. To me, the saying 'So near, yet so far.' describes the romance between Benedict and Sophie. It's so sweet that after years, Benedict still pin for the girl in sliver aka Sophie :)
review 2: 3.7 Stars. Public Library 9/21/14. Has the flavor of Cinderella but differs enough to make it more realistic. I liked the story well enough but Sophie's wistful personally began to rub me raw towards the end as she fli
... morepped more frequently between being a strong/weak character. She apologies for things that aren't her fault internalizing the blame. Towards the end, the story slides down hill leaving us with silly/dumb explanations for actions/choices. I'll be reading more books in the series since each can be read as a standalone. This was my first and I had no problems/ didn't feel like I was missing anything. less

This was my favorite book of the Bridgerton series, which is somewhat surprising since I found Benedict monstrously dull in the first two books. The plot is romance centric, which makes a refreshing change from lusty heroes who only realize they're in love in the last two chapters. Bendict falls for Sophie very gradually throughout the course of the story and is willing to give up everything he has to be with her. This book is probably the least funniest of the series but is, IMO the best.

Even though this was a good entry in the Bridgerton series, I would say this is my least favorite thus far. I don't think I got to know Benedict very well like I have with the other heroes in the past two books. And Sophie was a strong woman fashioned after Cinderella, which is ok, but she's wasn't my favorite heroine. Still well-written, however, and there's no doubt that Julia Quinn has become a favorite author of mine.

I loved this one! Yes, I know it's basically Cinderella, but this was way better.
