review 1: Anthology. 2.83 starsDawn of Eden by Julie Kagawa. I've liked other stories by this author but this short story wasn't up to the previous standard. Repeating turns of phrases in one paragraph to the next (editor please!), unbelievable love scenes and a vampire that practically raises his fist to the sky saying, "I WILL make this better!!!" (Reminding me of Actorman on SNL.) Um too late dude, almost everybody's dead already. **Thistle & Thorne by Ann Aguirre. This story made up for the first one. Dystopian world made bad initially by a chemical accident and then by greed, avarice and ruthlessness. I enjoyed it. ****Sun Storm by Karen Duvall. Different take on a dystopian world where it's hot and there's little water. I remember there being both an Outer Limits an... mored a couple Twilight Zone episodes like this. The romance didn't seem believable to me. I think they were more like friends at least in my opinion. And the ending was pretty much Kumbaya. **1/2
review 2: More review to come on the first 2 Dawn of Eden by Julie Kagawa. 5 starsLoved! 5 starsThistle and Thorne by Ann Aguirre 5 starsLoved and wished there were books based on these hard characters and world, I need more!Sun Storm by Karen Duvall 2 stars.I think this would be at least a 3.5 star book if it was a book and not a novella. I feel like details were left out through out the book that needed to be there. I.E. why did they need her specific power? It makes sense why they needed Ian's powers but why both of them together? I needed more than "a bunch of -ologies". It really made it hard to believe in the world. The end climatic scene felt rushed. As if we needed to cut words and that is where we did it. All of a sudden we are there and it's done. Not much details, no epilogue end. I also disliked the passage of time in this book. One sentence it is "in 30 mins the storm will hit" and then all of a sudden we are in the storm 1 paragraph later. It does not take 30 mins to walk out the hallway. Another inconsistency that I was not able to go back a verify was that Sarah's range was 200 miles at the end of the book but it was first mentioned that it was 2000 miles. Big typo! How old is Sarah? We have stuff to make it sound as if Ian was mid to late 20's....but nothing on her. It's dystopian...she could be 16. But about 4 chapters left we find out. Ok that's what I got, I think the author had to cut a lot of stuff and I think the quality of the story died. less

Didn't like it as much as I loved the series itself. However, I only read Dawn of Eden.
