review 1: JULIET MARILLIERS' WRITING IS AMAZING. THERE IS A PART IN THE BOOK WHERE NERYN IS WATCHING HELPLESSLY AND THE SITUATION WAS HORRIBLE. I COULDN'T BREATHE AND MY HEART WAS PHYSICAL HURTING. I COULD NOT BEAR IT SO I FLIPPED FORWARD A FEW PAGES TO SEE IF THE CHARACTER HAD GOTTEN OUT OF IT. I KNEW WHAT HAPPENED BUT WHILST READING THE SCENE I COULD NOT BEAR IT AND I HELD MY BREATH. YET, I DIDN'T RUSH THROUGH THE SCENE AS I HAVE THE TENDENCY, NO HER WORDS HELD ME AT EVERY SYLLABOL. I 'DINNA' SKIPA WORD. READ THIS BOOK NOW !
review 2: I loved this equally as much if not a bit more than Shadowfell. I love the world that Juliet Marillier has created in such a short amount of time. She's so good at building things up and adding such extensive details that you really feel
... moreas though you're traveling along the rugged terrain. I never get tired of the small things she points out in her writing, from the plants and animals to the weather, because it adds life and resonates with the goal at hand. There is so much more world-building and character development in this second book. Neryn is a small and fragile looking character on the outside, but what I admire about her is how strong and determined she is on the inside. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book, hopefully my heart won't break too much. It's safe to say that I am hooked on this trilogy and it has become one of my favorite fantasy reads so far! less
