review 1: This book is written well enough, and there are cute moments and brave moments, but I don't like how the Sevenwaters stories now all seem to be about "How the woman finds her man" rather than "This is the story of an awesome woman, also there is a love interest." I tolerated this shift that I felt in the Heir to Sevenwaters because I was the main character was more of a romantic homebody, and that seemed to be her thing. However in this book, the main character has no interest in having children or a spouse and is tied to her druid path, despite the fact that virtually every character is telling her someday she'll understand and want children. And instead of getting to prove them wrong by showing she is strong and female without those things, she finds a dude on the beach ... moreand within a couple days can never remember her life without him again. It's like a 180 turn around in two seconds, and I feel totally invalidates people who don't have those urges that implying that, yes indeed, you just haven't found the right person.
review 2: This book is enjoyable. But VERY, VERY slow. I picked it up at my local library, with no real knowledge of the book, but it quickly became clear this was a book in a series, and not the first book. The first 75% of the book, nothing happens. It is an odd mix of backstory, tons of character introductions, and a sort of slow moving plot. The writing was so beautiful, however, that I gave it a chance. The actual adventure takes place over about 10% of the book. It is exciting and neat, but by this point you knew EXACTLY what would happen. Not sure I would read it again, but I MIGHT pick up the first book in this series. less

I've read down through the reviews and I tend to feel a mix of what everyone said. I enjoyed it. I expected more. It was predictable. A bit slow, everyone seemed very understanding, but I was able to easy enough read it, skimmed a little bit.Being in love is all well and good, but I really hate to see her give up her life's calling. -just my two cents. I'm glad the decision isn't up to me. I just might find that life calling way too interesting to give up.

Loved it! Great epic fantasy adventure! For half of the book I was gouging my eyes out in frustration because we all knew Knut was dodgy but Sibeal wasn't saying nothing! To anyone! I'm just sad I can't read into Felix and Sibeal's future (even Carthals).. I grabbed this book from my local library not knowing the author or that it was apart of a series but I very much look forward to reading the previous novels.
