review 1: This is among the best books I have ever read. The detail of the story shows the amount of research that went into the whole book and has made it one of those that cannot be put down until it is finished. The characters are so well formed that you live each and every moment with them sharing the anger, frustrations, fear and even love in the cruel and harsh WW2 asylum in Germany. Each step taken by each character builds up to a tremendous climax when everything seems to fall apart for everyone. This then brings the only closure possible for the two friends who let each other down so badly that nothing can be salvaged from what is left. This is a 110% must read!
review 2: Ich hatte ziemlich große Erwartungen ans Alphabethaus. Es war meine Erster Jussi. Aber ... moreleider muss ich sagen ich bin sehr enttäuscht! Unglaublich langweilig und vorhersehbar. Die Charaktere sind total abgedroschen. Ich sage nur "28 Jahre später blabla es verging kein Tag an dem Brian nicht an James dachte blabla...Er hatte nie Deutsch gelernt!".....WAS?!
