review 1: I'd have to say this book was a much better improvement from the first installemtn in the series. this time around, Lexi's relationships weren't based off of infidelity, which made the characters a hit more bearable. the suspense in this had me hanging off a cliff. It was very clever of the author to use different times (past, present) in the story to add suspense. although it frustrated me most of the time because I read with my mouth hanging open the whole time wondering what the hell just happened and what would become of that. it left me hungry for more and eager to figure the ending. it was truly aggravating to say the least. but that is a good thing. the suspense and palpable tension hanging in the air throughout the novel indicates amazing writing and emotion. I do ... morehope to see the end of Lexi's story. Who will she end up with? what is in store?also, why does the book always begin with some traumatic phone call?
review 2: Finally a story with some real BITE. And I am not even done with the series yet! For once, I'm reading a story about main characters I don't actually like (expect Ramsey and Adam.... so far). It's a weird convoluted mess of lies, deceit, manipulation, half truths, and avoidance. It's told in the 3rd person from Lexi's and sometimes Ramsey's view points. It alternates from 11 months in the past to present and can get a little confusing if you stop/start your reading a lot. There are a lot of Lexi-haters out there and others who simply hate the story just because the main characters aren't all that likable, especially Lexi and Jack. However, I like the variety. The 3rd person narrative is a little awkward and there are a lot of editing issues, but the story is compelling enough. I got the whole series for .99 cents, so can't complain too harshly. less
