review 1: There is really only one criticism to make about this novel: I am finished reading it and it is the end of the series. Kaje Harper lives up to the motto and mission of her m/m fiction and writing style: real men, real lives, real love. This a fun romp, a great mystery and a very healing read all at the same time. You live the harsh realities and experience the hope of the main characters through their eyes. I highly recommend this author and this series to everyone to read.
review 2: Predominantly a character-driven close to the series, the police procedural component of this book is fairly understated compared to the previous works. In fact, it is notable that the police work is designed to highlight the abilities that Mac has lost, and is trying to regain, c... moreoupled with the strain on his relationship with Tony generated by his desire to return to active duty. All in all, it was an effective wrap up to the primary storylines, and fleshed out well the aftermath of Mac's brush with death on his family. less
