review 1: This book is set in the early Tudor years and focuses on Queen Elizabeth the wife of Henry Tudor the seventh. There is still unrest and factions that would return Yorkist leaders to the throne. The herione is a candle maker and in that time, candlemakers helped to bury the dead by producing embalming materials. There is romance as well as a more serious theme of how parents dealt with the death of their children as infant mortality was very high then. As always this author recreates the period and carries the reader back in time to savor the adventure and romanace oc the times.
review 2: I enjoy reading about the Tudor Dynasty in English history. Karen Harper did a great job telling this story. It was from a different point of view other than a queen or king, or
... more someone high at court. I found it to be very original, and I am glad that I read it. It was sad at times, and a mystery at times. It was a different take on the two children lost in the tower, and who had the most to gain by their death. less

A new and refreshing take on a part of Tudor history not well known by the masses.
