review 1: Amé éste libro con toda mi alma. Sarah Nelson es la niña de 12 años más madura de la cual he tenido el privilegio de leer. Debido a su agitada infancia, su ausente y enferma madre, todos los problemas que han tenido que soportar ella y su padre, y que por ende han dañado su relación de padre e hija, Sarah Nelson ha tenido que crecer y aprender del mundo más rápido que otros chicos de su edad. Me encantaron todos los personajes y lo que representaban en la vida de Sarah. En especial me encantó el formato en que se relata la historia. Sobre todo los pensamientos de Sarah y las cartas que escribe. Hubo una carta en particular que me hizo llorar, quienes han leído “Sure Signs of Crazy” o “Querido Atticus” – edición en español- sabrán a cuál carta me re... morefiero, y los que no, estoy segura que si llegan a leer el libro, estarán igual de conmovidos que yo. Si hay un personaje en el mundo de la literatura del cual me gustaría saber cómo siguió su vida en el futuro, definitivamente sería la no tan pequeña Sarah Nelson.
review 2: I loved this book. It's not a hollerin' to the world, "I LOVE THIS BOOK!!" But a quiet, important semi-realization, "I kinda love this book." I have to admit that my five star review comes from the fact that I found so much to relate to in SSOC. No, I personally don't have a drunk father or crazy mother, but I found the characters' issues and the relationships present in my own life's cast of characters in other ways. I hope my daughter reads this book. I've told her she must. But she must read To Kill a Mockingbird first. TKAMB is my favorite book of all time, and the fact that it is an ongoing reference in SSOC and that Harper Lee and Atticus are themselves important to the book necessitate a reading of TKAMB before SSOC. I found myself wanting to underline parts of SSOC in much the same way Sarah marks up TKAMB. There is power and importance in some of the passages here that I longed to remember. less
