review 1: This series is very very good, and among the best I've ever read when it comes to creating narrative tension. It was almost a bad thing - they both caused me actual anxiety while reading, and I had to put this down for a couple of weeks while various overwhelming things were happening in my life, because I couldn't take the added stress. But that is my own issue, and a sign of how engaging and gripping the series is. A++, do recommend.
review 2: I really liked this book, but not nearly as much as the first one. I didn't really like Abdi as a narrator, I didn't think he was as nearly an interesting character as Tegan and isn't a fully fledged character. I also feel like nothing really happened and what did was pointless to the over all story. The main characters
... more PTSD felt like something the author wanted to explore but she would forget about it for long periods of time and they never talked about it to each other. Nothing was really resolved and other than the last paragraph I wasn't sure if this was the final book. It's actually frustrating how unresolved it ended. The ship of frozens, the Australian government, the No Migrant policy, Bethari and Joph. Not even Tegan and Abdi were fully closed. I'm okay with open endings, but this felt like a beginning to a long series. less
