review 1: 3.5 stars: Intriguing sci-fi exploring social power dynamic, systems of privilege, and questions of humanity in light of scientific advancements. Occasionally the world building feels a little vague but in generally this one stands out in a flood of futuristic "rebellion against restrictive government and social structure" novels--especially because it features a protagonist & other major characters of color. (yay!)
review 2: Wonderful world building. Very definitely aimed at younger young adults 12-15 years. As an experienced reader of science fiction I found the technology a little simply named and over explained but new readers to science fiction will definitely not be lost. Glad that the main female protag was the strongest which allowed her not to be dise
... morempowered by the very traditional romantic elements. Overall a very nice story which should appeal to all young YA readers. less
