review 1: Atlanta 1974, a town where females are still expected to get married and stay home. Maggie Lawson has followed in her uncle and brother's footsteps and joined the police force where females are not truly accepted. The men take credit for any positive outcomes in cases in which the females participated. New female recruits are ridiculed. When Kate Murphy joins the force, she lies about her wealthy background and is partnered with Maggie. A killer is targeting police officers and Maggie and Kate try to solve the case.

The good old boy police network constantly dismisses their work because of their gender and calls them every name in the book, which made me want to yell, "Stand up for yourself!" The characters were unlikable and more than I could take at times, but the storyline read well and felt realistic. less
