review 1: Def 10 star read! Jeez, where to begin? Well first let me explain that this author is one of my all time favorites so I just pick up everything she writes and just know that it'll be exactly what I'm gonna love. Karina Halle loves to push and pull her readers into believing the unbelievable and experiencing plots and situations that are cringe worthy and uncomfortable, but what she does with these two books is put a subject in front of her readers that is totally uncomfortable yet compelling and real. She makes you think about your own reasons for the quick judgements you make of other people's decisions and actions and wonder if your opinions could be based in fear or are they based in true belief. This book gave us an in depth view of Matteo and Vera and continued their ... morestory but from Matteo's POV, which was fantastic! This could not have been more perfect. I felt like I was involved in a slow motion train wreck where everyone knew they were gonna hit something but weren't so sure they would come out alive. It was heartbreaking, it was frustrating, it made you wince and it was scorching hot, but above all it was romantic. Matteo never gives up, never gives in. He is in it for the long haul and he he's it it to win both Vera and Chloe Ann. But the heart wrenching decisions and situations take its toll on everyone. This book didn't sugar coat divorce, the consequences of infidelity or the in-fighting between ex's nor the impact to the new partner. It lays it all out their and tests the relationships and ties that people think and hope they have. It was so powerful to read it and I know that I'll read both books again. I can't imagine that any other author could pull this off like Karina. Her writing is so thought provoking and romantic and real. She makes you feel what her characters experience, which is always such a ride in her books. :) Thank you Karina! Another great book. Now I am really looking forward to Where Sea Meets the Sky.
review 2: Mateo, Mateo, Mateo! Once again we meet! I loved everything about this book! Vera and Mateo's story continues in this beautifully written book, one that pulls at your heartstrings yet again. And like life, nothing is easy for these two, fighting their villains, either within themselves or in the outside world. You'll cheer them on as they find their path, bumps in the road and all. Karina did a beautiful job in continuing their story and I cannot wait to read Josh's journey in Where Sea Meets Sky! less
