review 1: Amazingly well-written, with an action-packed beginning that hooked me right away. I wish I had read this book before the others in the series, since my knowledge of what would eventually happen to certain characters took away some of the suspense at times. The author did a nice job showing the points of view of different members of society in Russia at the time so that the reader could really understand the conflict going on.
review 2: It took me a while to get into this book, but by the end, I couldn't put it down! Enthralling and dispiriting. During the fall of the Romanovs; an engaging tale.
