review 1: A clinic in the middle of the Everglades provides the best hope for six kids trying to recover from head injuries or so they believe. The four main protagonists are great and the plot is inventive, but "Wake up Missing" never really delivers. The villains aren't very villainous and their motives are vague. The relationships between the characters aren't explored as deeply as they could be and the twists and turns create more confusion than suspense.
review 2: This book is fast-paced, with danger lurking around every corner for the kids at a supposedly highly rated center for brain trauma located deep in the Florida everglades. Middle schoolers will eat this up. Very timely concept, too, as the long-term effects of concussions are only now being taken seriousl... morey and are still not well understood. PA Choice book for 2014-2015. A step up from Messner's usual fare, which I've always considered just okay. less
