review 1: As someone else mentioned, I kept thinking of Agatha Christie as I read this. The mystery just KEPT going, and the characters got more and more complex. The setting, the amazingly smart children, and the mystery of smuggling all roll together to make this a fun-but-challenging read for any middle school kid. Another middle grade book bought for a niece for Xmas. Mystery with a little bit of a ghost story.

It was a very complicated book in the beginning and hard to keep everything straight.

Mysterious strangers stuck in a wintry inn? Role-playing games? All good to me!

I found the beginning slow, but it picked up speed nicely.
