review 1: I received this from a goodreads giveaway. First of all I'm not very good with history and therefore I was unfamiliar with the setting and what was happening at this time. I found this book quite predictable and with my lack of historical knowledge I found it difficult to tell which parts were based of real facts and which were fictional changes. However I enjoyed this book event though I wasn't used to the setting and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical fiction.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book. Never having been overly fond of history, I read it purely as a novel set in the days of Cromwell. I noted that some reviews were very critical because the facts weren't correct - I was oblivious to this - so it didn't spoil the story for me! ... moreI found it very easy to read and follow the ups and downs of Ruth with historical information thrown in.
