review 1: Flora Brimm’s first four fiancés died before they made it to the altar. Now she is trying to marry Fiancé Number 5 so that she can produce an heir to fulfill her grandfather’s will. Her fiancé is being hunted by a Pinkerton agent, Lucas McMinn. McMinn suspects Flora is in collusion with her fiancé. She grudgingly agrees to help him because she thinks it will prove her fiancé’s innocence. The two of them work together, and eventually a spark grows between them. The adventure that Flora and Lucas undertake is riveting; their witty dialog is memorable. The lovely cover does not sufficiently convey all the action in this book. Readers who enjoyed A Kiss of Adventure by Catherine Palmer should enjoy this inspirational historical rom... moreance.
review 2: This book took me a little while to get into, but once I realized that I really liked Flora and Lucas was a likeable guy then I got drawn in to a really fun story. I love the whole Pinkerton detective aspect of everything and found myself trying to figure out who the real bad guy was along with Flora. Lucas and Flora are well matched but the question is, will they figure out they are a good match or will they both be too stubborn to do something before it is too late? The start was slow, but the end was riveting. A solid addition to my collection of Kathleen Y'Barbo books. less
