review 1: This is a very good book! It's so exciting and pondering! It's about a girl named Julie and her best friend, Ivy. When Julie finds a note written in Chinese from long ago, Ivy, who is Chinese, deciphers it. It leads to a story about Ivy's grandmother many years ago. That same night, both Julie and Ivy's dolls are stolen. While looking in Chinatown for their dolls, Julie and Ivy find clues in the note that link the stolen dolls to a long lost friendship and a long lost treasure. Meanwhile, Julie and Ivy are suspicious of a man named Jimmy who is supposedly stalking them...
review 2: I like the American Girls Mysteries because they are totally plausible. A 9 year old girl could really find herself in these mysteries and could really figure them out! This one was
... morereally good. I love when Ivy is involved in Julie's story lines. This one involved the history of Chinese immigrants to San Francisco. The AG mysteries are slightly more sophisticated than the regular books, but if don't mind stopping and answering lots of questions from your kiddos, they are worth the read. less
