review 1: I stumbled across this book and thought it would be great for a plane ride. Overall it was okay. The descriptions are so detailed you can imagine the scene playing out around you. I could place myself there and I only suffered through one horrible summer of camp personally. The story of Helena basically having to grow up is relatable, due to her being slightly older than her best friend Katie they are in different stages of camp and she now has to bridge the gap created between her and KatieBell.Spoiler Alert**The issue I have is with the last section of the book where there could have been so much more and just wasn't. It was just left lacking. It was like the author noticed the time suddenly and had to wrap it up. The accident, Helena being caught up and the girls making... more up was done way too quickly. And Ransome moving on was a bit expected but disappointing, however I do wish that would have been developed more. The epilogue provided only enough that when I was done I was slightly frustrated.
review 2: The Lost Summer is by far my least favorite of all of the books I have read by Williams. I didn't connect at all with the main character, Helena, and she came across to me as annoying and immature, and didn't seem to grow as a person throughout the novel even though it was supposed to be a coming-of-age story. The Summer camp setting left me wanting more, but never being satisfied with the quality of the descriptions or events. The only upside to the book was the unexpected excitement at the end of the novel, but even then the closing didn't feel tied up. Overall I was disappointed; 2/5 stars. less

The perfect summer camp book. And should win awards just for the feeling the cover gave me.

Melancholy book about camp, her "first time", and troubles with friends growing up....

Good book, not that good of ending. And one very descriptive sex scene...
