review 1: I had to stop. The heroine is an idiot. Her roommate is also her competitor in a cooking competition. She is ruthless, determined to win, a good actor, and deliberately sabotages her. So instead of doing the logical thing such as, oh, getting a different room or roommate, no she falls in with Ms. Saboteur Bitch and stays late at the pub. I know some awful contrived thing is going to happen. I can't go on.
review 2: Take one aspiring cook, one judge, and a spoonful of romance...This book was like chocolate… without the fear of it sitting on your hips! It was charming; a proper toe curling romance. Perfect.Picking up a novel by an author like Katie Ford is like selecting a movie like ‘Bride Wars’ you know its not going to educate you or show you anyth... moreing new – you even know kind of how its going to end! But the story telling is so perfect you just don’t care! This novel follows the lives of Zoe and Gideon and their secret love affair, the ups and downs and yes! You may think you know how it ends but like my mother always says “Happiness is a form of travel – not a destination”I also really enjoyed the cooking competition; it added a back drop which was as gorgeous as the characters in the novel itself, mouth-watering! As always I couldn’t put it down – perfect for a poolside read or those days when you just want to warm hug and no ones around – I cant recommend this enough to anybody who like me find a guilty pleasure in Chick Lit. less
