review 1: I LOVE this series. Well developed scenes, interesting story line and at the end of each book I just want more. Though the partnerships are predictable at times - the romance doesn't distract from the story line. Events flow nicely and I am amazed each time when a new psychic ability is introduced. I'm surprised I don't have a favourite character as I have come to get to know each person in the unit . A sign of a well written book series
review 2: With a caveat, I say that this was an excellent book. The caveat? If I hadn't read the other 11 books leading up to this book (even though the publishers assure us they are "stand alone" books), then I would have agreed with many of the more negative reviews....the murders are grisly....there are so many characters
... moreit is difficult to feel drawn to any one of them....there is a sadness to this book (that most of us readers don't like). But....I HAVE read all the other books, so I say that this book was meaningful, as in a family reunion. None of the characters were new, they had each been featured previously in a book of there own, where the reader got to know them in some depth. The past 4 books really led up to this book, which is climactic for the series. To see characters relating to each other with their own unique skills was voyeurism at its best. There are flaws in the book (some scenes and issues are rushed or sloppily finished, the story us a bit convoluted) but I didn't find the flaws troublesome. I was focused on the relationships between these detectives. Their humor. Their teasing. Their worries. Having read the other 11, I was already invested in their characters, so seeing some old characters again was, like I stated earlier, a family reunion. Me included. less
