review 1: I have to say this is a pretty great book. I liked it and would have paid a decent amount for it had it been longer and went into detail about a few things. I found it disappointing that we don't get to know the history behind Art and Lucas, since it was so clearly there. Why gloss over it like it wasn't a big factor to the story? I wish the author had explored Art's background, the homestead of the fictional creatures, the reason behind the school, and maybe a hint of Lucas. I mean, for all the readers out there who don't study Nymphs...Dryads, how would they know the connection between Dryads and their trees? I mean it's kind of there, between the lines, but I think it would have been a bit better to get a little information there about the connection. I liked Bayne's ch... morearacter but felt that his change from man-slut to monogamist was too quickly done. Yes, I get that he fell in love but shouldn't there be a small, maybe two paragraph portion where he has to think it over? At all? I enjoyed it none-the-less and recommend other try it out as well. It's free so might as well right?
review 2: While not a bad story, I felt like this should've been a lot longer. We didn't get much world building, leaving a lot of unanswered questions - where do all these "monsters" come from? Why are they at this school so long, and does every supernatural being attend? Why only males, and are they all gay? Why does Lucas have to have his tree, and why does Art hang around so long - is time different in this setting? The characters could also be fleshed out a lot more; we were told a lot of things (Bayne is boy crazy, Lucas has reservations but suddenly he and Bayne are in love) that I'd like to see happening instead, which would allow for a more emotional connection with the characters.I think this is a great premise, and if the story were expanded and the characters given more depth, it would be a great read. less
