review 1: After seeing the first page of this one, I continued reading thinking that I likely wouldn't care for it much. The overall approach Burke takes is epistolary and kind of gimmicky, two things I'm not fond of. But I read on because it looked to be a quick read. Well, I'm glad to report that I liked it quite a bit despite my biases. I think it was the very last line that made it all worth while for me.
review 2: Author Kealan Patrick Burke has a lot of fun with Offline, using the concept of anonymity to play with the characters as well as the reader. Offline is a very entertaining and addictive read. However, in the end, the story is exactly what you expect. But that is not necessarily a bad thing. Burke strings along subtle clues and has you reflect back on t
... morehe details once revelations are exposed. For what it is, this is extremely well done and has an authentic quality. You really feel like a voyeur reading the back and forth emails of teenagers. The author has a gift of subtext and manipulating his characters in way that feels completely natural and believable. Highly recommended story from one of the genre's most underrated authors. less

Nice creepy short. It had me going. Nothing is more twisted than a catfish story. Loved it!
