review 1: After reading so many high recommendations finally I was able to read my first book fm this author. I'm not exactly a horror fan. I mean the authors I've read fm this genre is only a handful. So I'm still testing the water. KPB's writing is quite unique, kinda like cut the chase and get to the core style. With very few words he could give you the world, or, in this case, give you all the elements required for a superb story. It has to be a novella. Any more words would be redundant. I gave it 3 stars mainly becuz I'm not used to its sci fi factor. But I enjoyed the writing tremendously.
review 2: Plain ol’ nasty monster horror. Burke really surprised me with THE TENT. I approached the book with mild expectations (I’m generally not a creature horro
... morer guy – though I love Burke’s work) but Burke managed to put me on the edge of my seat from page one. The creature(s) in this novella are so damn nasty and creative they make all others in recent memory down right boring. I won’t spoil (I typically don’t, but especially in this case where we are talking monsters – it’s all about the surprise and reveal) so go pick it up and find out for yourself. A perfect read for the fall. less

Entertaining novella. The imagery with the "tent" was very well-done and very very creepy.

Ok for a short read. I think I might have liked it better as a novel. Too many loose ends.

I really enjoyed this - great concept, breakneck pacing. Well done!
