review 1: What the Heart Needs picks up immediately where the first book ends. It's been a couple of months since Heaven and Dylan officially met and they are spending every chance they get with each other to learn more about the bond they share. "The more we give in to what the heart wants, the more we get what the heart needs. My heart wanted you from the first time I saw you. My heart needed you from the moment we were born."As their love grows so does the momentum of those of those that want to break their bond. What the Heart Needs answers many questions left from the previous book, but those answered only bring out more questions. Secrets come out and Heaven and Dylan's love is tested.I was literally on the edge of my seat as the story went on. Half way ... morethrough the book I couldn't focus on anything else. Work...be damned. There was even a moment between Heaven and her sister,Faith, where I teared up with emotion. We see more of Layne and discover his true intentions toward Heaven. As this story ended, I was left wanting more and rushed to begin the next book; What the Heart Takes. This is one of the BEST series I've read and I'm in absolute awe of Kelli McKracken's writing. The stories are written with perfect description. For me as a reader, it was always difficult to visualize the scene written. That is not the case here. I can literally visual the characters' movements as I read each word.So much is comes to light in this book and I don't want to give anything away. I can only say I LOVED it. Another 5 Stars for Kelli McKracken.
review 2: I loved the first book. this one disappointed me a little bit. I could have done without the love triangle. I thoought the "special" bond between layne and heaven was unnecessary and it took away from the bond between her and Dylan. I also do not know why heaven needed a break from Dylan. you would think after something like that you would run to your soulmate. not cut him out.but after all that I still think it was a pretty good book. no where near the first one. I'm kind of disappointed we didn't find answers to the package and text messages. less
