review 1: This is relaxing, filler reading for me: Christian historical romance. What can you expect? Someone needing a wife but not wanting one. Check. That someone being set up by someone who loves him or her to make marriage a distinct possibility. Check. The original someone changing his or her mind, eventually. Check. Someone with sins or other serious issues in their past. Check. Check. Check. No swearing. Check. No illicit sex. Check. Bible verses and interpretations that fit situations. Check. Check. All in all, a wholesome quickly read romp through the early western US.

... moreave as to Midge's hard life of destitution, loss of family and her meeting of Doctor Saul Reed and him taking her on as his ward even though he was unmarried and a starting doctor in Baltimore.You also get to meet Clara and Aunt Doreen and learn of their hardship during the Oregon train migration. How women were considered the lesser sex and not capable of making the journey without the help and protection of a man. They get kicked off the wagon train and left behind when an ox goes missing and Clara won't marry an old miner for the sake of staying with the wagon train. They end up in Buttonwood and meet Josiah Reed who takes them into his home and gives them a job and an opportunity to earn their way through the coming winter months. He has hopes of keeping them both their permanently, but doesn't voice them till the timings right. He strikes a bargain with Clara to convince his son Saul to settle down in Buttonwood and marry one of the eligible woman there, secretly hoping that Clara will win Saul's favor. Saul does prefer Clara, but Clara won't marry to solve a problem, only for love because of her cruel Uncle Uriah who belittled her and her aunt all for material support of the two woman.Then there is Midge and her welfare in the mix. less

This was way boring. And the writing was bad... Not a fun read.
