review 1: If you read this book and you do not come away inspired, you have failed somewhere. This book, one I picked up after watching his TEdTalk on education, is probably one of the best and most concise accounts of what art means to the human population. Those that wonder "how do you make money as an artist?" are looking at things through a pinhole instead of a magnifying glass. This book exemplifies that. I've read this book two or three times and it is a constant mainstay on my iPod and other devices as a book on tape. With its compelling and revealing examples of how creativity has shaped various individuals, you begin to understand the depth at which this artistic thing goes and how you have arrived at the point you are in your life currently. Whether you're a homemaker who ... morespecializing in making cool lunches for your kids, a musician, a traditional artist, a writer, a hair stylist, you put together outfits on your blog, or you like to make things out of other things in general, you will find your place in this novel. You are an artist. We are artists. Embrace it.
review 2: This book has come to me at a crucial time when I'm struggling with my thoughts. I started the book with great enthusiasm. First few chapters really did interest me but as I read further I kept loosing it. In the later half the author keeps criticizing the present education system but fails to present the alternate theories or solutions that can be synthesized to replace it by the policymakers. And that extra star in the rating is for lifting up my spirits. less
