review 1: This book was given to me by a mentor specifically as I was struggling with my next move career wise. Wouldn't it be nice if you could read this book and have an immediate clear reaction? Well thats not life but this book is solid, smart and inspiring. His real life examples and stories of celebrities and intellectual person journeys bring it home, personalizing the reasoning and overall just fascinating. Robins is pretty direct on his views of the education system which at times was hard for me to read but it did open my eyes to another point of view, one that has become increasingly meaningful in the months since I have read this. A large take away is to embrace creativity, individualism, and natural ability or interest. Highly recommend.
review 2: Some of my
... more favourite passages:"Doing something 'for your own good' is rarely for your own good if it causes you to be less that who you really are"."The decision to play it safe, to take the path of least resistance, can seem irresistible, particularly if you have your own doubts and fears about the alternatives. And for some people it seems easier to avoid ruffling feathers and have the approval of parents, siblings and spouses. But not for everyone"."It is easier to overcome people's judgements than to overcome our own self-judgement, the fear we internalise". less

Suggested reading for incoming ND Freshmen. Good companion piece to Strenghtfinders 2.0.
