review 1: I simply cannot say enough about this whole series, but let me tell you a little about this first book. There really are no words to explain how two characters with so much going against them can overcome the imminent destruction about to happen.Tynan, he is one hot shape shifting vamp who is a hunter sent to find a "seer" who can help the queen see into the future. She wants to know whose trying to kill her. Lily, our heroin, who is completely "in the dark" about what she is and why she has nighmares,is afraid to sleep for any length of time; afraid of what she will dream. Lily is more than anyone knows and Ty has to keep her safe and hid from the queen until he decides who he can trust. This is a well written book/series with many character introduced that you either lo... moreve or hate. Plots thicken as the story moves along. I simply cannot say enough about Ms. Castle's series because I'm in love with it.Read and enjoy!!!!
review 2: This PNR is kind of an undiscovered gem. I wish more people knew about it!The vampire mythology and politics in this romance are so different than others I've read. Ms. Castle has such an interesting take on the subject, infusing ancient Egyptian beliefs into the vampire's history and creating a world of danger and intrigue hidden behind the everyday world of regular humans. As it turns out, the heroine Lily is no regular human. And this is exactly why the hero Tynan was sent after her. Tynan is what I'll call a "reluctant alpha"--forced to do the bidding of a morally questionable queen due to his "lowblood" status even though he's meant for so much more. Perhaps a bit of inst-love between our main characters, but I liked them more than enough to overlook this. Besides, you're dealing with magic and destiny, so it kind of gets a pass. ; )I had thought the idea of a feline shifter vampire and all the caste system nonsense would get old fast, but it worked! The vampiric milieu created by the author is quite impressive and I'm interested to see what else this series has to offer. The solid writing peppered with the occasional lovely bit of poetic prose in addition to a heroine that's no doormat bumped this from a 4.5 stars, to a strong 5. less
