review 1: Blood Lite III is a great collection of humorous horror, absolutely PACKED with fiction (30 stories in all!) Some of my favorite were:Blood-Red Greens by Joel A. Sutherland. This story follows two senior golf buddies who take their weekly golf game VERY seriously, even after the zombie apocalypse. Put On A Happy Face by Christopher Golden. Exploring the dark side of the circus, this clown story will give you the heeby jeebies. The Great Zombie Invasion of 1979 by J.G. Faherty. Great characterization. I was hooked from the first line.Mannequin by Heather Graham. A ghost story with an unusual twist. The Steeple People by John Alfred Taylor. Truly inventive and so hilarious! The Man Who Could Not Be Bothered To Die by Norman Prentiss. We're all guilty of it. Every day as humans,... more there is so much we need to do, and we never get around to doing it all. Our modern society is a busy, hectic place. Who has time for death these days?A Misadventure To Call Your Own by Adrian Ludens. This story is written in the style of a Choose Your Own Adventure book, and the ending will make you laugh out loud!A Day In The Life by Sherrilyn Kenyon. The publishing world can sometimes be home to callous, self-serving people (but what profession isn't?). Find out what happens when the author from hell and her editor get reunited after death.Old MacDonald Had An Animal Farm by Lisa Morton. This story made me ashamed to be a human... and a little scared to be one, too!Two For Transylvania by Brad C Hodson. Anyone who has read Dracula MUST read this story! Such a funny take on a classic masterpiece!Overall, I was very pleased with this collection and definitely recommend it.
review 2: Picked this up for the Harry Dresden story. Horror really isn't my thing, so you should take all of my ratings with a grain of salt.Jim Butcher's I was a Teenage Bigfoot - Nothing special. Just had something lacking, perhaps because it was so very short that Butcher didn't have time to pull together his usual interesting mesh of story. Still, I enjoyed getting to meet River Shoulders and Irwin again (the only reason this gets a 3 (okay) instead of a 2 (don't bother). (3)Joel A. Sutherland's Blood-Red Greens - So. Very. Boring. (2, but didn't finish)Kelley Armstrong's V Plates Christopher Golden's Put On a Happy Face E. S. Magill's Devil's Contract Eric James Stone's Nine-Tenths of the Law Jeff Strand's Scrumptious Bone Bread Mark Onspaugh's Let That Be a Lesson to YouMike Baron's Mint in BoxJ. G. Faherty's Great Zombie Invasion of 1979 Stephen Dorato's Dating After the Apocalypse Jeff Ryan's Typecast Mike Resnick and Lezli Robyn's Making the Cut Will Ludwigsen's Acknowledgements Heather Graham's Mannequin Daniel Pyle's Short Term Nina Kiriki Hoffman's Distressed Travelers L.A. This series always is a delight to read. Still hoping for a 4th, but it doesn't look good.
