review 1: What I got from this book: I do not love Jesus enough to teach my girls to be subservient to their future husbands (OMG. What if my daughters marry a woman!?). I don't love my kids because I let them read things that let's the Devil hang out in my house. I DEFINITELY don't love my husband because I don't find it an uplifting spiritual experience to clean up after him. BUT at least I wear dresses most of the time! I have that covered.I can normally overlook (and enjoy!) blogs & books that have an extreme Christian perspective if it offers enough solid & valuable information but there's really nothing presented here that isn't common sense. The cover photo is what made me read this , absolutely confirming you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.

... morected to like this book more than I did. The book was written by a mother of nine children, coming from Christian subcultures like that of the Duggars of 19 Kids and Counting fame. The book is definitely written to mothers forming households within these communities. The book is divided into two sections. The first is about homemaking ideology. The second is full of practical tips on home management. The first section was very dicey for me. On one hand, I really enjoyed the depictions of Christian character and raising children to live in obedience to God. The dynamic presented between family and husband, in which he is largely absent from the home and when he speaks, everyone absolutely listens without question, was fairly terrifying, though. The second section I expected to be even more practical. It did have some great tips (although most won't be new to anyone who studies productivity methods), but overall some of the sections were repetitive and nothing was life-altering in terms of the tips.Overall, I was definitely not the intended audience for this book. While parts were interesting, if you are not a very conservative Christian, you might be better served by other books on home management. less

Some heavy-duty Protestant thinking throughout but also some good suggestions for home management.
