Thrown to the Lions
review 1: Franklin is a shark in the boardroom, a dominant in bed, and gets whatever he wants at whatever cost. He spares no expense, time or money when he has his eye on the prize. Cameron, also known as the dancer Carmel, hates men like Franklin, men who think they can wave their wallets around and have others fawn all over them. Cameron has issues, his father was the leader of a pride and unlike a healthy pride, demanded full obedience. Cameron left home and no one came after him. He now dances to make ends meet and often whores himself out… He hates men like Franklin. What both Franklin and Cameron don’t know yet is the leader of a local pack has been looking for Cameron for a long time. When Franklin buys his way into getting ‘thrown to the lions’ for an evening of debau... morechery then demanding where Carmel is, Arslan (the leader) realizes they need to pool their resources to find Cameron… he also realizes that he’s not going to let Franklin ‘buy’ Cameron, who needs a healthy pack. Cameron thinks he’s fine on his own, and when all three meet at the club where Cameron dances, destinies collide.Dare has always been one of the hottest authors I’ve read. I love Duck and the Thrown to the Lions books are no exception. These lions are dominant, they’re male and they are looking for “pets” or mates in the humans. The experiences steam off the pages and come to life. I especially loved Cameron and Franklin’s story because for a while we just don’t know who the dominant one is. There are so many wounds from both Cameron and Franklin that readers will wonder whether a healthy relationship can even be sought. We also don’t really know who the “villain” is. Franklin is so obliviously hurtful at the beginning, but then Cameron sometimes “uses” Franklin and causes emotional scars of his own. At the end though you will wonder how you ever thought they could be without one another.***Warning hot boy on boy scenes and one deviously sexy strip dance***Bitten by Books for ARe Cafe
review 2: I really enjoyed the Thrown to the Lions series - a lot of story for some pretty short books. I really, really liked the end where Cameron realized and understood his role, and took the rest of the punishment for Franklin. Cameron covering Franklin's back is one of the best pictures of a D/s relationship that I've read (and I read a lot!). I also like that Cameron didn't stop the whipping, but continued - by taking the whipping, he also acknowledges his part of the responsibility for the way he was treated. less
