review 1: I DEFINITELY liked Trent, but honestly I had doubts about Kieran and his motives. True to Kim Dare, she DOES indicate that deeper feelings are planted and growing, but honestly he treated Trent in such a crass manner most of the time, even when they weren't on duty. Not mean, just straight forward but to such a point that I was taken aback thinking, 'what the hell does Trent SEE in this guy? He's not even nice. Screw that - why is ED allowing his brother [or cousin - that was never clarified] to be used by Kieran when he apparently knows how Kieran is with his relationships??'Trent may have been a born submissive, and his actions were charming for the most part, but I kept coming back to the over-all feeling of him being used, and latching on to Kieran just because he was ... morethere, and because he was the first to show serious interest. =/
review 2: This fourth story in the series takes a look at yet another type of D/s relationship: that of an experienced dom and a young man who is just beginning to figure out that he may be a submissive. Add a little bit of danger, since they're cops in an undercover situation, and you've got a very interesting, and extremely hot, mix of elements.Trent is a rookie cop, who ends up almost exposing himself because his superiors don't adequately brief him (due to an error, as it turns out, but still). He tries to play along but is clearly out of his depth. All he knows is that his life depends on the older cop. His biggest fear is that he'll stop taking an interest in him once the case is solved. All he knows is that he wants more - of being told what to do and definitely more hot sex.Kieran is a slightly cynical older cop who can't believe Trent came onto the case as unprepared as he does. He also can't believe how attracted he finds himself to the virginal submissive, not his normal 'type' at all.I really liked this look at both of them, their slowly dawning realization that they may want more than working the case together, and how careful Kieran is of Trent - not just because he is inexperienced, but because he figures out he wants more from the younger man. Despite the lack of open emotions (which really wouldn't have fit with these two characters) I found myself involved an interested in how they'd get along. less
