review 1: Perfect summer reading – light, not too fluffy with satisfying endings. There’s Cake in My Future starts with a bride hiding in the bathroom at the church on her wedding day and goes back in time so we can see how things came to this. Nicole (the bride) has turned into bridezilla - at her wedding shower she has “salted” the cake with charms placed so each guest gets one that will help them in their immediate future. Of course no one gets the charm the bride had intended and Nicole is worried about her best friends’ futures. One of the best things about Gruenenfelder’s books is the humour sprinkled throughout and the relatable trials and tribulations of her not-so-perfect characters. Take this book on vacation with you and enjoy a lovely get ... moreaway.
review 2: This was a really cute, fun read. Just a normal 'chick lit' book, nothing too deep. I would have given it 4 stars easily because it was that entertaining, but I was just too turned off by all the 'f' words. All I can say is, 'why?'. Why the use of that stupid word? Do authors think it helps sell their books? Have any of you known someone to stop reading a book because there weren't enough 'f' words? Me either. It's just dumb and it actually makes me lose some respect for the author, especially this author because she really has a storytelling gift and she doesn't need to use that word to try and spice up her story. :/ less
