review 1: MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK!Sadie Wagner now lives away from her family and works in Goldtree, Kansas and sending money back to her family because her father can no longer work because of an injury. And since her cousin is there she will at least have some family with her. She starts working as a mercantile clerk but when Asa opens the opera house Sadie will be singing as well. This is the way it suppose to happen, and it did for a while, until Asa decides to go with round two of his opera plans, the plan he failed to tell anyone about. Sadie started feeling uncomfortable about what Asa was asking of her, and he just keeps pushing his demands. In the mean time, Thad McKane is striving to do the new job he was hired for, trying to catch boot-leggers. Trouble is, everyone in the... more town just seems clean. But Asa is confident this person will make a mistake and he will catch him in the act of cooking that moonshine. Then he will move on to being the preacher he feels God wants him to be. When he hears Sadie singing hymns and praising God, he is mesmerized by her voice, and well by the pretty girl herself. Sadie’s cousin Sid is happy she moved to Goldtree to be near him. He has a secret attraction to Sadie but doesn’t want her to know it. But he is frustrated when he starts seeing Sadie and Thad together more and more. Thad could be getting in his way.I am a Kim Vogel Sawyer fan and this book didn’t disappoint. If you are a historical fiction fan, you will enjoy this story as well. Set in small town Goldtree, Kansas where everyone knows everyone else, it seems it would be difficult to sneak in and do something illegal, but that what is happening in this little town. The author creates characters that will draw you into the story and keep you there. Sadie is such a sweet young lady and the conniving Asa Baxter on the loose with her talents just irritates me! But I have to say his two sisters are adorable. I love how they take Sadie in, watch after her and take care of her. And running the mercantile, they seem to keep tabs on everyone. The sisters give humor to the story and make it fun. If you are in for a good interesting and fun read that will take you away for a while, pick up Song of My heart and see if you can help Thad chase down those bootleggers. I was provided a copy of this book from Bethany House through LitFuse Publishing Group. I was not expected or required to write a positive review. The opinions in this review are mine only.
