review 1: Roberta, first introduced in Undead (2012), wakes in a hospital and is very unclear about how much time has passed and why she is there. She is told her mother is dead and that Scotland is under quarantine, but not to worry, she is safe in this compound. Moments later the sounds of zombies shambling outside her door spur her into action. She escapes and goes in search of her compatriots from the first book. With the help of old frenemies and new allies she escapes the compound to go in search of their missing friend Smitty, who received the cure to the zombie bite in the first novel. In a rip roaring adventure traveling across Scotland, the friends will have to decide who they can and cannot trust. While this novel is enjoyable, readers will definitely want to read Unde... moread first before taking a bite out of this hilarious tale. The cliffhanger ending will hopefully be resolved in a final sequel. The snarky comments between the group members gives this dark subject a lighter feel. Overall this is a fun zombie novel with some pretty impressive and strong-willed heroines.
review 2: Thankfully this was a quick read. While still a very good zombie book, the characters drove me crazy in this one. The language was irritating and almost seemed forced. There were several British sayings that went over my head (at least, I assume they were British...). But the story is still packed full of action and zombie gore. I didn't expect the big reveal at the end, which was nice. I'll probably read the next one (if there is a next one) just to finish out the story, but it is starting to drag a little. less
