review 1: Gah, the Empire Strikes Back of this series!!! I really like this series, and riding along with Matt as he embraces his Thor-ness in this one is really exciting. And Laurie rising in confidence and power is good too. But the ending was written weirdly, almost like an afterthought: very little description and almost backhandedly. Still a heart-twister though, and the way I did not want it to go, but I know an Empire is necessary in a trilogy. Now to wait for the next one....ugh.
review 2: if I were a 13 year old... this book would be among my favorites. as an adult.. it is still pretty awesome but one can tell it was written for a younger crowd. I love the Norse mythology. I love the story line. Fen's character can be a little annoying.. but I look forward to s
... moreeeing what happens with him in the next book. I look forward to reading about the final battle. will Matt end up in Valhalla? will he live? what greatness will we see from Laurie? does Owen die again? anxiously awaiting... and passing this on to my 10 year old... who is sure to love it even more than I do. less
